Peter rejoined the firm as a senior attorney after spending 10 years as an attorney in the Vermont Legislature’s Office of Legislative Counsel. From 1997 to 2010, Peter advised the Firm’s tribal clients on issues related to tribal governing capacity, complex litigation, and taxation.
Peter sees his role as being a problem solver, helping clients to identify goals and build positive solutions. On tax matters, Peter has advised tribes on complicated tax issues, providing those communities with concrete guidance and avoiding substantial compliance expenses. On governmental matters, Peter has helped clients develop court systems and legislative capacity through extensive drafting and consultation. When litigation is called for to protect a client’s interest, Peter’s work has been focused on concrete and practical results.
